I'm thinking of finding and getting a heater plug... works the same, very very cheap.
But finding one for the HDi isn't easy...

No Way to spend all that money.

Anyway it was a good optional to get on a brand new car;

Being lucky maybe can get a used one (if they're all the same for every kind of 406) for a few money from crashed cars, it's the only possible solution for me. Odin, if it's in your possibilities to plug the car every night in your same place go for it, it might be a good solution (even 'cause up there it's a breezing part of Italy :D )

Great, isn'it? :)
Italian Price just to buy a brand new Power Unit is around 1350 Euros, but I suppose that a used one could have a good price. It might be interessant to know which model goes on 406, 'cause Webasto is usually already installed on various different kinds of vehicles, like Caravans Buses and Trucks (for last 2 I'm even talkin' about small sizes) as well. If ours come out to be a common model it might be easier to find it.

Then, in the end, buyin' all parts might cost around 300 Euros for spare parts and then maybe around 150/200 euros more to set it up on the car. Not a few, but surely more possible than to go for a new one.

Heater plugs, not glow plugs. You plug the AC in and they heat the water in the reservoir. Easy and cheap, common solution in USA and Canada.

I've noticed a system webasto-like is available on the 508 as a 500 euro optional. If that's the standard price, it shouldn't be difficult to find an aftermarket one for 200 euros?
